Starting in Swartbroek
Your walk begins in Swartbroek, a small village tucked away in the greenery. From here, you step straight into the De Krang nature reserve. Once a swampy area, it now features sandy ridges, ponds and forest. You can still feel the transition from wet to dry, especially where wooden boardwalks keep your feet above the damp ground.
Along water and remembrance
The Tungelroyse Beek runs alongside part of the trail. You cross the stream via a narrow wooden bridge, with the sound of flowing water beneath you and nothing but quiet all around. A little further, windmill De Hoop slowly turns in the distance. In the village centre of Swartbroek, a small war cemetery reminds visitors of the area’s past.
Variety along the way
This trail offers a little bit of everything: wooded areas, open fields, historic elements and wide views. Dogs are welcome, provided they are on a lead. The trail includes both paved and unpaved paths and is easy to walk.
